Athren wasn't really sure if he had ever flown at such rapid speeds but the situation before him was rather dire, he wasn't aware of what was going on or all the details but he had known more than enough to put him into a sense of urgency and panic. Immediately after the attack on Orange City during the early hours of the morning, Athren had sensed that there was another power level at his camp. It was surrounded by raising power levels of his crew, his friends, and everybody he called family. The Ki signature was extremely high and one he had never sensed before, he didn't know what was going on but he had a terrible feeling in his stomach, a feeling that something terrible was about to come to pass. Given the fact that his allies power levels were no longer suppressed, Athren could make the assumption that they were about to engage in a fight of some sort and the stakes were rather high. There was no other reason for it besides that, and Athren knew that he had to rush.
As the wind blasted against his face and blew his hair all around, he got this feeling of helplessness for the first time in his life. He didn't know how to describe the feeling, all he really knew was that at this very moment in time, there was nothing he could do to prevent whatever was happening at his camp and his immediate and biggest concern was his two children. Hopefully, they'd run off, hopefully, they'd manage to get away from whatever was going on but Athren wasn't to confident in that. As he flew, he sensed the energy signatures from those he called his friends fading away fast, it was almost like they were dropping dead. One at a time at a pace that he couldn't keep up with. Ukare's had still been going strong but compared to the new signature, his didn't even compare. He had known it was only a matter of time until Ukare's had faded along with the rest.
Even though Athren was tired from the night's events and the lack of sleep, he was ready for a fight. He knew the threat was strong and he wasn't sure he'd be enough to take them down and he had his doubts but this fight wasn't about his survival, it wasn't even about the survival of his crew or his friends, his biggest priority was giving his children a chance to escape if it wasn't too late. Surely they could head off to Ayu's or Zerori's, anywhere that they'd have somebody to look after them. He really didn't care, so long as he could provide them with an opportunity to escape, even if it cost him his own life.
As he got closer and closer to camp, more energy signatures were fading. Over half of them had been erased by this point and it had only been but a few minutes. He couldn't help but have a quick thought in regards to why this was happening, did somebody already connect him to the attack that had just ended? Was somebody already out for revenge and if they were this strong, why wouldn't they have shown up to stop him? None of the potential ideas running through his mind made any kind of sense but he knew he'd find out soon enough. Though he was rushing as fast as he could, it would appear that there wasn't enough time to get there in time. One by one, he sensed the fall of his friends. They just couldn't stand up to their opponent, it had seemed like their lives were cut short so quickly, their power level not even reducing before fading away from the light.
The more his friend's energies faded away, the more helpless he felt. It was his job to protect each and every single one of them and he had failed them, he couldn't do anything, he wasn't fast enough to prevent the loss of life and maybe, he wouldn't even be strong enough. Though as he flew, he had finally felt Ukare's energy signature fade. It didn't completely vanish but it was obvious that he had taken a big enough blow that he wouldn't be able to continue the fight and now that he was down, the strongest fighter currently at the camp, the rest of the energies had declined even faster until the was nothing remaining. The worry in Athren's mind had multiplied dramatically, it felt like his camp had faded from existence in all but a matter of minutes and there was nothing he could do about it. He could only hope that his children were alright.
Finally he had arrived at the scene and upon landing he saw one hell of a sight, his ship was right there and it seemed as if all the camp was packed up and ready to go, they were just waiting on him to arrive in order to leave, but he didn't arrive in time. What he saw was the bodies of his crew all piled up beside him and away from the ship, Ukare had been laying beside the pile and at the bottom of the ramp of the ship was an unknown enemy, who had both Cress and Celric right there with him, a hand on each of their shoulder to keep them from going anywhere.
Athren had immediately clenched his fists tightly, he was angry and nervous. Not nervous about the fight to come but worried about his kids and their future. "Let them go, right now. Whatever the hell this is, they've got nothing to do with this!" Athren exclaimed loudly as he hoped this individual would listen. Of course, nothing would ever go that smoothly. The look in Cress' eyes was pure fear for her life, while Celric had more of a warriors attitude. Regardless, this situation wasn't good and Athren wasn't sure how to handle it.
